For our warm up this week we used some playing cards attached to polly spots. Students moved with the music around the gym, when it stopped they found a spot and flipped it over to see the card attached. They had to match the suit to the exercise projected with gifs and the number represented the reps they did. There was a key for face cards they had to use. They had to think a little with it to figure out what they had to do.

We ares till working on our striking unit, this time with scooter hockey. Students were striking with the scooter hockey sticks trying to score on one of the goals for a point coin. They wanted to call the game "whack a goal" so that is the name of it now. Also some good hamstring work with having to move the scooter will the pulling of their legs.
Working on volleyball serving with accuracy today. Students scored points by getting the ball to land in hoops while serving, then at the end had to do some multiplication and then addition in order to find their grand total.
This was left on my whiteboard tray after 3rd grade left. Absolutely made my whole week! It means so much hearing something like that from a student.
Today Pre K was working on striking with their hands. We used balloons for them to work on striking to keep it up. We added the challenge of trying to stay in their hula hoop and keep the balloon up without having to leave. We also talked a little about force and how a balloon is very light so we don't have to use much force when striking it.
Great opportunity coming up to get out and get active along with learning important bike safety for your students. Free event from Scottish Rite Hospital, with free snacks and lunch, and even a free bicycle helmet and bike inspection!!!! Put in on your calendar now so you don't forget!!!
Used fitness circuits to get warmed up in gym today. Students got a good laugh out of my stick figure drawings. I thought they were not too bad! Worked on some beginning volleyball skills using balloons and play "Keep it up" with various progressions.
Did some tic tac toe relay races to get started today then we played some good old fashioned straddle ball games. So easy to get going and the students loved the game and got to work on striking with hands in it. Was lots of laughs leading into spring break!
We started off class strengthening our core with some plank air hockey. Students were having a blast with it. Then we worked on some self progressions for stick handling. They could move at their own pace and move up a level as they were ready. Different levels involved different types of sticks as well as objects to manipulate.
