It may not be snowing here in Dallas but it did not stop us from building some snowmen relay style. We also did some relay tree decorating. Being the tree was the most popular part, everybody wanted to be a tree! Students got some cardio in while also working on creativity, teamwork, and communication.

Grateful to announce that Hexter was chosen by ACTIVE network and Kids in the Game to receive a HOPsports training system. It will be a great addition to the P.E. program offering more variety of activities for students to be active. We should be receiving the system before winter break so look for some posts on it coming up in the new year!
hopsports.com/ So at the end of classes we try to do some kind of mindfulness and cool down. Today Pre K was using "Frozen" story yoga to calm down. They even got to do some sing a longs while working on their yoga poses before going back to class.
Students have been working on throwing and catching skills this week. Today put a lot of elements into the activity including throwing, catching, communication, teamwork, and of course some math work. Students had to communicate on distance wanted teammate to go before throwing. In order to get those points a catch must be made in that point value zone. Teams kept a running record of their points they earned.
2nd grade showed off their amazing math skills today in PE. We played a game called "Go for distance," and the further they were the more points they got for a catch. Students learned what a running record was and used it to keep track of the points they were earning! I am so impressed with the 2nd graders, I mean, Look at those math skills!!!!!!
We are working on our throwing and catching unit this week and we added a math twist at the end. Students used the points they earned from catching to make patterns and label them. Reinforcing classroom learning is always a bonus! More math cross curricular to come this week!!
