This first week was all about team building. They worked on how to cross the gym floor without being able to let their feet touch the wood at all. Then learned how to move a line across the gym when only 1 person could step forward. Also had to find ways to pass a noodle with other parts of the body since they couldn't use their hands. So much great team work went on with so much encouragement from teammates. Definitely a great start of the year in PE!

Students were working on their reaction time along with cooperation and communication! They had to let go of their noodles at the same time as a partner and then switch and catch the partners noodle before it fell! Students really challenged themselves by changing the distance between them.
The Dallas Mavericks stepped up for Dallas ISD by donating to every student in DISD, yes over 100,000 students!! As soon as we get them here at Hexter I will get them to the students so we can start tracking all of our activity!!! Check out the story below!
www.fox4news.com/news/mavs-give-fitness-trackers-to-all-dallas-isd-elementary-students Welcome back Hawks and welcome new Hawks. The new year is now off and running as we begin our first day. I am so excited to see how you will all learn and grow this year. I have some fun new things planned for this years physical education classes and cannot WAIT for you to try them out!
So grateful for the opportunity to share some teacher technology with fellow Dallas ISD teachers at Collab Day! I love using technology in classes and finding new ways to do this. It's always nice to get to share your passion with others! It's going to be a great year Hexter!

The 2017-2018 school year has come to a close and so has my first year as a Hexter Hawk. It has been a great experience as well as a learning experience. I'm sure it will only get better from here. Hope everyone has a safe and fun summer break trying to find some ways to be active. I look forward to seeing you all next year!
Students working on scoops and accuracy trying to get it to land in the pools. Make it take it then add it to the rest of your points. Also took votes on favorite activities from this year to put into stations or to play to finish out the 2017/2018 year! I wonder what they will be picking!?!?!?!?!?!?
We did a "choose your own" hero adventure for our warm up this week. It brought in reading and creativity along with exercise to PE. This set us up for our end of the unit soccer stations afterwards. Kids had a blast acting out some of their favorite heroes.
This week students worked on ending out soccer unit with a self progression activity. Students were able to work at their own ability level and challenge themselves as needed based on their current skill level. Great way to differentiate students abilities. It also allows more advanced students for the skill a chance to help others. Students use the plagnets to track their progress and allows data for me that I can save and help where needed.
