Students worked on our first round of student self guided progressions. We used self toss and catch to get us use to the process of going through different levels and tracking progress with the use of plicker magnets. This allows students to work at their own pace and own level of the skill being taught.
Worked on a variety of skills using stations this week. We were learning the procedures for stations and how we move and use the timer to direct us. Stations are great for students to work together within their group and get the opportunity to do so many different things in a small amount of time. The balloon tap it was their overall favorite!
Go to the link to sign up your student now! It's open through October 1st
kids-teaching-kids.com/ Follow through the directions and help make healthy snack choices for 21 days!!! If you fill out the completion survey in November students will also win some prizes!!!! Students were learning how to work together to accomplish a task. They had to work together to toss the object up for another member to catch it in the bucket. Each round point values grew and objects were more difficult to catch. They had to communicate and strategize within their group to find success. We used scorekeeper plus app to keep track of points so they had to sprint over to record their points. Great workout included :)
Students got to see some of their favorite superheros this week during out Hero Warm up. Students rotated through the warm up stations by reading the cards, performing the exercises and finding the superheros it told them to. Was lots of fun and many great exercises they got to work through. Even learned some new locomotor movements like karaoke, lame dog and inch worm!
We worked on FITNESSGRAM information this week, learned the different components that were checked and did a pre try. We also worked on goal setting and discussed how it's an important life skill. Students did a great job at self assessing their scores and seeing where they needed to improve as well as coming up with ideas on how they could do that.
Played straddle ball today in PE while learning how to use our plagnets to track points. We are learning how to use and manipulate plagnets to help track multiple aspects of PE this year such as guided self progressions, answering questions, self assessments, and exit tickets to name a few. Good way to collect student data as well as provide means for students work in their own time and level.
Here is the September at home PE calendar challenge! Try to complete as many days as you can at home with the whole family!
Students worked in teams to advance through different levels of building hula huts. They had to put their engineering skills to the test with this one. They also had to be super careful and crawl through them without making them fall. It took lots of collaboration especially guiding partners through the hut! We even had some two story hula huts!!!
